Hope

December 30th, 2004 Comments off

Talked to a releatively new dayside employee today and found out shes already looking. She told me her sister is a job recruiter for warehousing work. Until I finish school warehousing would be perfect. Is the same as I do now in retail, just on a larger scale.

I gave her my number to pass along and hope to hear something soon. The quality of the store is going down so much it’s not even funny. The sad thing is it’s not me or a few people not liking it, it’s everyone. AJ has seriously turned that sore into crap since he started around Oct 2003. Anyone can walk in anytime and find themselves getting canned. Needless to say morale is at an all time low and not likely to ever recover.

Down One

December 29th, 2004 Comments off

I sure missed a fun night. I just got a call at 12:50am from one of my coworkers, that just went on break, to tell me one of the team leads, Maricely, was fired. Reason is unknown.

edit: Second break came around 330am and I received an update call. Our bastard of a boss (AJ) fired the backroom team lead for ridiculous reasons. This didn’t come as a surprise as the boss has had it out for the 2 team leads for months. What was a surprise was that she got it this fast and before the Danica. Danica has been on AJs list for far longer then Maricelly.

Decision

December 28th, 2004 1 comment

For the time being I have decided to use WordPress. I have never used Perl or PHP in all my time online so I’ll have to learn one just the same as the other.

My decision was mainly founded on the fact WordPress is Open Source. A great community and free. I’m not impressed with Movable Type’s 70$ licensing fee for the personal edition. The free unsupported version allows 1 author and 5 weblogs. If I ever wanted to add a user for posting from ym phone or sidekick then I’d have to pay. That doesn’t sit well with me.

One day I may switch to MT but not now.

You’re kidding right?

Ok. This is one for the record books. At work we are changing from a 10p-6a shift to 3a-11a on January. I work the overnight replenishment/logistics team. So we unload trucks and stock the sales floor. This means we will be in the store when we are open and guests (customers) will be in the store.. Right now we work from closing to opening. But this change also means a change in uniform. We have to read a red shirt but pants of our choosing. When we go to the dayside shift we have to wear khakis. The official uniform of working while the store is open.

Well it was announced last night that we have to do a “dry run of uniform change”. That’s right, our boss wants us to start wearing khakis Jan 9 to get used to wearing them.

I thought wearking khakis in the first place would stink since they’ll get dirty but a practice wearing run. Geez.

OMG was I laughing to myself when the boss said this. I mean he literally thinks we need to learn changing the kind of pants we wear. Yeah, I’m not joking.

Indecision

Well I’ve been playing with Mambo for the last 3 hours and have decided it’s way too much for what I need/want. I’m now trying to decide between WordPress and Movable Type . I think i’m leaning towards WordPress. I hope to have a decison in a few days so I can start customizing.

Procrastination

December 27th, 2004 Comments off

Everyone procrastinates at some time or another. I do belive I have surpased my own personal record though. I have all 24 episodes of 24 on my trusty TiVo unwatched. Yes, thats’s right, I have not seen one single episode of the last season. For time scope purposes, the first episode aired Oct 28, 2003 and the last episode was May 25, 2004. I Tivo’d the first episode but didn’t watch it by the time the next week rolled around so on Tivo it went. Well I seemed to busy myself with otehr things and TV so I never managed to start watchng epidoes to catch up.

Well week after week passed and I just let Tivo record them as I couldn’t watch live now since I was behind. I successfully avoided all ’24′ episode previews on TV and online and anywhere.

But now I must break the procrastination as I have until Jan 9 to watch them all before season 4 starts! At least I can blast through commercials so 1 hour boils down to 44-46 minutes. I plan on starting the marathon Tuesday.
