For the time being I have decided to use Wordpress. I have never used Perl or PHP in all my time online so I’ll have to learn one just the same as the other.
My decision was mainly founded on the fact Wordpress is Open Source. A great community and free. I’m not impressed with Movable Type’s 70$ licensing fee for the personal edition. The free unsupported version allows 1 author and 5 weblogs. If I ever wanted to add a user for posting from ym phone or sidekick then I’d have to pay. That doesn’t sit well with me.
One day I may switch to MT but not now.
You won’t regret it … Wordpress is a great tool. I was a long time user of MT (among other tools), and migrated to Wordpress. It’s easier to setup and maintain, as well as being easier to write with. And you can easily add features with the plugin system, either from existing ones, or by writing one yourself (I’ve written a few now).
