Long time no anything

January 29th, 2005 Comments off

Not used to writing this stuff down yet! Kinda odd seeing as how I have so much to say I could fill books. Work today went ok. We actually got a lot done for once, primarily because our joke of a boss (the big one) was off. Had to do a bunch of projects (last minute of course) for “bounceback” on Tuesday. I work for a large retailer and it’s the day district people come to visit and see how the store looks after Christmas. So of course everything is done days before. Heaven forbid we start it way in advance.

On the TV front I still have to start Season 4 of ’24′ as well as watch the 4th episode of ‘The O.C.” that I downloaded (because when it recorded for some reason I didn’t have that season pass set to save until I delete) so it was nuked. I did however recently finally get around to upgrading my Tivo. Tossed an old 80GB HDD I had lying around in and added 109 hours. In medium quality it comes out to around 70 hours of extra time. As soon as I watch that episode I can continue with the rest of the recorded shows.

Well there is plenty more I could say but I have to get to bed. Ah, the joys of working at 3am!

Work @ 3AM

January 17th, 2005 Comments off

Well Jan 16th came and went, it was the innagural night to transition from the 10pm-6am shift to 3am-1130am.

I thought 3-11 would totally suck the day it was announced 3 months ago but now that we’re doing it, it’s actually not that bad. Somewhat better then the old shift actually.

So for now I’m sticking with it but I do see new employment in the future. When, not sure. I’d like something better but since I went back to school for a career change, school is priority. I don’t want to get a new job and have to sacrifice classes.

24 Season 3

January 17th, 2005 Comments off

Wow. I finally got around to finishing the last 2 episodes Sunday and must say I was impressed. I thought the entire season kicked ass. So much “i don’t belive that just happened” stuff was in every single episode. I did think while watching the episode where Tony did what he did to get Michelle back was the worst one. I don’t know but the whole episode just seemed over the top with his lies and actions to get CTU away from Saunders. I thought for sure the rest of the episodes would somehow blow. But I was glad to see I was wrong.

The season finale completely blew me away when Chase had his had chopped off to get the bio-threat thing out of harms way. I was not expecting that.

Well I now have the initial season premiere of Season 4 to watch. All 4 hours of it, the 2-hr initial and the 2x 1hr epidoes the next night. Wait. Make that 5. New episode is on tonight.

I just hope season 4 doesn’t start to loose steam.

23rd hour

January 11th, 2005 Comments off

Well I managed to watch all but the last 2 episodes of season 3 of ’24′ over 3 days. since I didn’t start on my days off (of work) I ran into the trouble of balancing that with working the graveyard shift and trying to sleep. I did start the last episode before the season finale but fell asleep. I will rewatch it sicne I don’t remember any of it. That’s the goal for tonight. I then have the 4 hour (3 episodes) of season 4 that just started to watch.

I hope season 4 keeps things as interesting as season 3 managed to do.

Thanks Tivo!

January 6th, 2005 Comments off

I arrived home 20 minutes ago to find my tivo running sluggish. Went to check it out and I had a message waiting. I received the latest service update with my daily call. I now have TivoToGo! The TiVo is indexing the latest guide data and probably finishing up other things. When it’s done speed should be back to normal and I’ll try a transfer. I can do it now but I rather wait until all the TiVo housekeeping is completed.

TivoToGo

January 4th, 2005 1 comment

Tivo announced their TivoToGo service yesterday. This is something that I’ve been waiting for since reading about it on ticovommunity.com. The service will allow a user to transfer recorded shows to their pc or laptop, with exceptions for certain copyright tagged shows. Launching mid Jan will be a custom version of Sonic’s MyDVD to allow users to burn their shows to DVD. I haven’t seen if somehting is special with this program or if you could actually just use any DVD burning program such as Nero.

The new software is rolling out now and I put myself on the priority list on tivo.com. It could still take a few weeks to get it.

This is the official TivoToGo info straight from a Tivo rep at tivocommunity official TTG thread

Talking The TiVoToGo™ Feature Has Been Released! Priority List Now Available

We are happy to announce that the TiVoToGo rollout has officially begun! During the scheduled rollout, all Series2 TiVo standalone boxes will receive software version 7.1, which enables the TiVoToGo feature.

What is the TiVoToGo Home Media feature?

The TiVoToGo feature allows you to transfer programs from your TiVo box to your PC running Microsoft Windows® 2000 or XP. This will allow you to watch your favorite programs in another room or take them with you on the road.

How can I get it?

All Series2 standalone customers (except for those with DVD Recorder models – see below) will receive the updated software (version 7.1) during the scheduled rollout process. If you are anxious to receive this feature, we have set up a Priority List at www.tivo.com/priority. Just put in your TiVo Service Number and you will receive the updated software more quickly.

Note: It will take a few weeks for us to update everybody who signs up on the Priority List. Your patience is appreciated.

You will also need the following to use the TiVoToGo feature:

* Version 2.0 of TiVo Desktop for Windows. You can download it at www.tivo.com/desktop. TiVo Desktop for Windows 2.0 is only available for Windows 2000 and XP. If you have an older version of Windows, you will not be able to use the TiVoToGo feature. You can continue to use your existing version of TiVo desktop for the Music and Photo features.

* To play back files on your PC, you will need a supported codec. The TiVo Desktop 2.0 installer will check to see if you have one currently installed. If you do not, more information about how to purchase and install one can be found at www.tivo.com/codec.

* If you have Windows XP, we recommend that you install Windows Media Player 10 to play back the video files. Older versions of Windows Media Player are not supported. If you have Windows 2000, you can try the VLC Media Player.

* Your TiVo box will need to be connected to your home network. If you haven’t connected it yet, refer to the resources listed below for help in getting started.

Can I burn shows to DVD once I transfer them to my PC?

Sonic Solutions® plans to release a version of MyDVD® that will be able to burn programs transferred from a TiVo box to a DVD (if you have a DVD recorder on your PC). There will be a free trial of this software available in mid-January 2005. Sign up here to be notified when the Sonic Solutions software is released.

Is the TiVoToGo feature available for Apple Macintosh computer?

The TiVoToGo feature will initially be available for Windows PCs only. TiVo is working hard to make the TiVoToGo feature available on TiVo Desktop for Mac in the future but no release date is available at this time.

Where can I get more information?

We have more information at www.tivo.com/togo. You can download an updated version of the Home Media Feature guide (in PDF format) at www.tivo.com/guides. Just click the picture of your TiVo box and then “Home Media Feature Guide.” We also have extensive information about setting up and using the TiVoToGo feature at www.tivo.com/support. Just do a search for “TiVoToGo” or “TiVo Desktop.”

Important notes

* DVD Recorder with TiVo models from Humax, Toshiba, and Pioneer will not receive the TiVoToGo feature until later this year. Toshiba DVD Player models will receive the update during the scheduled rollout process. Please do not sign up at the priority list if you have a DVD Recorder with TiVo model.
* Series1 TiVo boxes and DIRECTV Receiver with TiVo boxes will not receive the TiVoToGo feature.
* If you are using the MoodLogic Music Organizer application (www.moodlogic.com), you will need to upgrade to the latest version to use TiVo Desktop 2.0. You can get the latest version of the Mood Logic application here.
* The WMA Plug-in created by pzand is not compatible with TiVo Desktop 2.0. If you are using that plug-in, you must uninstall it before installing TiVo Desktop 2.0. We attempted to reach pzand but were unable to do so at this time.

Any installation of third party software is at your risk. If you need support relating to the third party technology, please contact the manufacturer directly.

New Years Day

January 2nd, 2005 Comments off

Well yesterday was the “Maricely got canned dinner spectacular”. Went to Lone Star (steaks) then hit a couple bars. I called in sick for the first time ever at work and it felt good to be out on a Saturday night instead of at work. I work EVERY Friday, Saturday, Sunday and it’s getting really old.
