After I got areound to hooking up my Myth box to my TV I found that Gnome isn’t playing nice with the TV-out on the video card. TV-out *DOES* work as I get all the boot-time text on the screen. As soon as Gnome kicks in, more specifically GDM (Gnome Desktop Manager) I just get a black screen. I’ve been trying to figure out whats wrong for 6 days now and still have no idea. I have TV-out enabled in xorg.conf so Gnome SHOULD use it. I hope to resolve this issue soon.

I just got MythTV working. Time to see if it can rival TiVo. Now I’m working on the little things, like tweaking. I’m installing the MythWeb module now. With this I can connect to my machine with a web browser and control all aspects of Myth, even over the web if I allow remote connections.

I’d like to get a cheap hosting plan for just my blog. The only requirements are 1 MySQL database and shared Linux hosting. I don’t want Windows. I looked around a little and found plans as cheap as $3.50/month but googling around came back with less then satisfied users. Can anyone recommend a good cheap (but good) host? I love my current host and am keeping my other domain there but to host my blog independantly with them will run $12.95/mo and has way more features then I’d need.

I JUST got a call from my sister. She’s at the hospital having her baby. It was due this Friday, the 8th, but wanted to come on July 4, Independance Day. It’s kinda funny because my sister was born on a holiday too, Christmas Eve. I’m the proud uncle of a baby boy. His sister is 2.75 years old. Congrats Sis! (and bro in law!)
