Grades are in.

Advanced Solid State – B
Advanced Circuit Analysis – A

Going into the finals I knew exactly what final grade I would end up with for the classes with various “for example” grades on the finals.

In Advanced Solid State I had a 85.9% going into the final and would get an overall 80.5% (B) with a 50% and a 86.5% (B) with a 90%.  I kept my B.

In Advanced Circuit Analysis I had a 88.1% going into the final and would get an overall 80.9% (B) with a 40% and a 88.4% (B) with a 90%.  I must have done really well on it as my locked B turned into an A.

No complaints here.  14 consecutive A’s and 1 B.

Today I had my final exams and it sure is nice knowing this semester is OVER!.

The first exam was so-so.  There were questions on it I sure don’t remember covering.  When a classmate finished he asked me if I noticed that as well.  Good, I wasn’t the only one.

The second exam went much better but I may have made some stupid mistakes.  I tend to over-analyze and some of the questions I was seeing different ways of answering.  It didn’t help that the final is multiple choice and the answers are for the right and several wrong ways of doing it.  So that kinda messed me up.  I answer the first time and the answer is there but I redo it and that answer is there.  O well.  I still know I did much better on this one.

Grades should be in by Thursday at the latest.  I hope they are in tomorrow afternoon.

With this semester at a close I can now look forward to next Monday.  I start my summer class, Astronomy (satisfying my 1 hour of gen ed I’m missing, even though it’s a 3 hour class).  In just 6 short weeks I’ll be done and done with school.  June 21 I’ll have everything I need to graduate.  I can’t wait.

Christmas Break starts now

December 13th, 2005 Comments off

Today was the final in Electrical Power Supplies. I ended up falling asleep early Monday night and woke up at 5am today. Not what I wanted, as I still had to make my sheet. I was out the door and at school at 615am. I was the first car and person in the building where the class is. I started making my sheet and realized that there was just way too much to fit on 1 8.5″x11″ sheet. Around 7:15 a classmate showed up and started his. 7:45 came really fast and I just decided to see if the teacher would just let me use effective 1.5 pages. He said ok.

The test went ok. I actually answered most all of the Q’s without randomly guessing like I did last semseter on his Solid State final.

Grades are due tomorrow so I should be able to see what the overall was. If I email the instructor he’ll let me know what I got on the final as well as the overall grade (before the latter is available online or at the school kiosks (and before the report cards are sent).

I’m expecting the B and will be very surprised if the overall was bumped to an A.

Classes are now out until Jan 16 2006. My first class will be Jan 17. Unfortunately I’m not going anywhere but will just work even more and pict up the mad OT for the holidays before hours get cut back in January.

I checked my grades online today and was absolutely surprised to see I received an A in Solid State. Either I did better then I thought and the curve bumped me over a 75 or the entire class did so bad the curve was incredibly huge. I’m not complaining.

Now only if my other class would get its grade entered. That’s an A but I want to see it on my academic summary.

School’s almost over

May 3rd, 2005 Comments off

This semester flew by. I have a final this Thursday in Advanced Micro (it’s not a computer class, it’s robotics). I just have to have my robot preform the required task. It has to search a mock-up house floor plan and search out a randomly placed light. About half the class is working on this together but we ran into a few problems today. Now we have to get together tomorrow and try to finish it since it’s due Thursday.

My other final is Tuesday in Solid State Electronics. Now this one is a actual test. 50 questions, multiple choice. I need to get a 75 or better on it to keep my A. That (hopefully) shouldn’t be a problem. I just need to get started on my allowed “cheat” sheet. I can have 1x 8.5×11″ paper with anything I want on it. I have 12 chapters from the book to summarize and cram in it. I know people last semester had to use a magnifying glass to read their sheets cause they made the drawings and text so small to fit the most they could on it. I’ll probably just put everything from the 3 tests we had on it.

After next week I have almost a month off then June 6 (summer school session 2) I start summer school. I’m only taking 1 class, the required Trigonometry. The teacher I wanted is teaching so I signed up. It’s going to be super easy.

I still need to sign up for the fall semester but I’m in no rush. I’ll only be taking 2 classes again and they’re in no danger of filling up. Even if they did the instructor would get me in (he’s also the EET department head).

…went Back to School!

Well after getting screwed in the computer industry almost 3 years ago now, I’ve decided to go back to school. I start this Monday at 8am. I will be going for an Associates of Applied Science in Electronics Engineering Technology at Joliet Junior College, the Nation’s oldest community college. I’m most likely going to continue on and pursue a Bachelors.

The cool thing is a bunch of the classes I took last time I was going to JJC (oh, 8 years ago :) ) count towards the new degree so I won’t have to take the full class list.

I’m looking forward to going back and have been ever since I got serious about going back a few months ago.
