How time has flown

March 1st, 2005 No comments

This Saturday, March 5 will be 3 years at my current job. Can’t believe it’s been 4 years since I was laid off and 3 years at this job already. (I was out of work for 1 year before giving up on getting any new IT contract work and had to get something).

Change

February 21st, 2005 No comments

It’s been 10 days since the manditory meeting and things seem to be chaning for the better. Information gathered says a lot of the employees that don’t work and are lazy will be gone by the end of the week. The 3am flow process “change” is supposed to be completed by March 1. By then everything should be working and lazy employees gone. Only time will tell and I hope what I’ve heard comes true.

Big Fun

February 11th, 2005 No comments

Well this morning at work was a MANDITORY meeting. It was to discuss the fact we can’t get ‘clean’ (entire turck pushed and back stockrooms completely done). A little birddie told me to expect it to last 3 hours and that support help from another store would come to work our truck while we were in this meeting, Well no one from the other store came and the meeting only lasted 30 minutes. Blah. Not much of anything important was told to us. I felt sorry for the people that came in on their unscheduled night for this meeting. I mean 3am and retail. This wasn’t a major ‘state of the company’ type meeting.

Work @ 3AM

January 17th, 2005 No comments

Well Jan 16th came and went, it was the innagural night to transition from the 10pm-6am shift to 3am-1130am.

I thought 3-11 would totally suck the day it was announced 3 months ago but now that we’re doing it, it’s actually not that bad. Somewhat better then the old shift actually.

So for now I’m sticking with it but I do see new employment in the future. When, not sure. I’d like something better but since I went back to school for a career change, school is priority. I don’t want to get a new job and have to sacrifice classes.

Hope

Talked to a releatively new dayside employee today and found out shes already looking. She told me her sister is a job recruiter for warehousing work. Until I finish school warehousing would be perfect. Is the same as I do now in retail, just on a larger scale.

I gave her my number to pass along and hope to hear something soon. The quality of the store is going down so much it’s not even funny. The sad thing is it’s not me or a few people not liking it, it’s everyone. AJ has seriously turned that sore into crap since he started around Oct 2003. Anyone can walk in anytime and find themselves getting canned. Needless to say morale is at an all time low and not likely to ever recover.

Down One

December 29th, 2004 No comments

I sure missed a fun night. I just got a call at 12:50am from one of my coworkers, that just went on break, to tell me one of the team leads, Maricely, was fired. Reason is unknown.

edit: Second break came around 330am and I received an update call. Our bastard of a boss (AJ) fired the backroom team lead for ridiculous reasons. This didn’t come as a surprise as the boss has had it out for the 2 team leads for months. What was a surprise was that she got it this fast and before the Danica. Danica has been on AJs list for far longer then Maricelly.

You’re kidding right?

Ok. This is one for the record books. At work we are changing from a 10p-6a shift to 3a-11a on January. I work the overnight replenishment/logistics team. So we unload trucks and stock the sales floor. This means we will be in the store when we are open and guests (customers) will be in the store.. Right now we work from closing to opening. But this change also means a change in uniform. We have to read a red shirt but pants of our choosing. When we go to the dayside shift we have to wear khakis. The official uniform of working while the store is open.

Well it was announced last night that we have to do a “dry run of uniform change”. That’s right, our boss wants us to start wearing khakis Jan 9 to get used to wearing them.

I thought wearking khakis in the first place would stink since they’ll get dirty but a practice wearing run. Geez.

OMG was I laughing to myself when the boss said this. I mean he literally thinks we need to learn changing the kind of pants we wear. Yeah, I’m not joking.
